The Yankees – East 153rd Street Metro-North Railroad station serves Yankee Stadium and Highbridge, the surrounding area in the New York City borough of The Bronx. It opened on May 23, 2009. The station provides daily local service on the Hudson Line, and special service on the Harlem and New Haven lines for New York Yankees baseball games, and New York City FC soccer matches, all played at Yankee Stadium.Approximately ten trains before and after the games serve the station and allow riders to leave from and travel to stations on all three Metro-North lines. A shuttle train also transports fans between the stadium and Grand Central Terminal, helping to reduce traffic on the subway lines used to connect to New Jersey Transit and Long Island Rail Road trains at Penn Station.
