The Port of Genoa is the major Italian seaport and it's in competition with the ports of Marseille and Barcelona to be the biggest of the Mediterranean Sea. With a trade volume of 51.6 million tonnes, it is the busiest port of Italy by cargo tonnage. The port was also used as a dismantling station and had been named as the port where the Costa Concordia was to be dismantled.
