PDO is short for polydioxanone, which is a compound that has been used to create absorbable sutures used in surgeries for decades. In fact, PDO first found its use in the medical field as a way to close incisions related to cardiovascular surgeries. Repurposed for cosmetic facelifts, PDO is a body-friendly type of suture that can sit naturally beneath skin and is eventually absorbed into the body.
