The Monastery of Mater Ecclesiae (Latin for Mother of the Church) is located inside Vatican City. It was founded in about 1990 by Pope John Paul II as a monastery for cloistered nuns. In 2013 it became the residence of Benedict XVI, Pope Emeritus of the Catholic Church.
