Salford City Football Club is a professional association football club based in Salford, Greater Manchester, England. It currently competes in the National League, the fifth tier of the English football league system.
The club was founded in 1940. In 2014 it was taken over by former Manchester United players Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Phil Neville, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt, who each own 10% of the club, with businessman Peter Lim owning the remaining 50%. Since 2014, the club has had three promotions in four years.
