Upon graduation, she worked as a Director of Youth Programs counseling and teaching over 100 youth and families. She also worked part-time at a low-cost counseling center in Oakland treating clients dealing with drug addiction, abuse and violence. She then worked for an inpatient drug and alcohol treatment program for adolescent girls coming from juvenile hall and child protective services. From there, she worked in a hospital as part of an interdisciplinary medical team on a research project providing therapy for patients with PTSD, Depression and drug and alcohol addiction.
