Chaloem Phao (Thai: เฉลิมเผ่า) is a junction in the area of Bangkok's Pathum Wan sub-district, Pathum Wan district. It is a three-way junction of Rama I with Henri Dunant roads and considered as the end of Henry Dunant road. Including a junction between Pathum Wan and Ratchaprasong intersections on Rama I road side.Its name "Chaloem Phao" comes from the namesake of bridge which used to be here in the past, Chaloem Phao 52 Bridge (สะพานเฉลิมเผ่า 52), or commonly known as Chaloem Phao Bridge. It's a bridge in the Chaloem bridge series, The bridge was built by King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) to commemorate the anniversary of his birthday each year. Starting in 1895, which he was 42 years old, there're 17 bridges totally. Chaloem Phao is the bridge across Khlong Orachon (คลองอรชร), the canal that connects Khlong Bang Kapi (a part of Khlong Saen Saep) and Khlong Hua Lamphong. The bridge was completed and opened on November 15, 1905. Later on, when Henry Dunant road was built, the canal was filled in to make way for the road and the bridge was dismantled. In 1963, the bridge was restored. Nowadays, there's still remnant located on Rama I road between Siam Paragon and Wat Pathum Wanaram. The area around Chaloem Phao is one of Bangkok's major shopping districts and tourist attractions.
