Salkia is a neighbourhood in Howrah, West Bengal, India. It is on the bank of Hooghly River, under Howrah Municipal Corporation. It is between Mali Panchghara and Ghusuri. It comes under Howrah North Assembly constituency.Salkia comes under the Kolkata Metropolian Area.It is one of the commercial centres of Kolkata.It has existed since at least the 19th century. Tikia Para and Pilkhana are among the other neighbourhood in Howrah. The Postal code of Salkia area is 711106Haragunge Bazaar is a century old market, located at heart of North Howrah, at Aurobindo Road, Salkia. It is under renovation. A new mall is there on top of existing market. The mall has major brands and several restaurants and a three screen multiplex, and premium office space. Aurobindo Road and Dobson Road are commercial streets in Salkia. Renowned GRAND TRUNK ROAD (G.T.Road) which was constructed by SHER SHAH passes through this area, this section of G.T.Road is NORTH PART.
