Liberty High School is a large urban, public high school located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, in the United States. Liberty is the larger of two public high schools in the Bethlehem Area School District, with Freedom High School being the other. Liberty's current attendance area includes students from the City of Bethlehem, Fountain Hill, Freemansburg, and Hanover Township. In 2015, enrollment was reported as 2,759 pupils in 9th through 12th grades, with 55% of pupils eligible for a free lunch due to the family meeting the federal poverty level. Additionally, 18% of pupils received special education services, while 4.5% of pupils were identified as gifted. The school employed 156 teachers. Per the PA Department of Education, 2% of the teachers were rated "Non‐Highly Qualified" under the federal No Child Left Behind Act. In the 2014-15 academic year, Liberty High School had 2,749 students and 156 full-time teachers.According to the National Center for Education Statistics, in 2013, Liberty High School reported an enrollment of 2,784 pupils in grades 9th through 12th, with 1,606 pupils eligible for a federal free or reduced price lunch due to the family meeting the federal poverty level. Liberty High School students may choose to attend the Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School for training in the construction and mechanical trades. In 2015 the District reported that over 1,000 Bethlehem Area pupils were enrolled in the Vocational school's programs. The Colonial Intermediate Unit IU20 provides the school with a wide variety of services like: specialized education for disabled students; state mandated training on recognizing and reporting child abuse; speech and visual disability services; criminal background check processing for prospective employees and professional development for staff and faculty.
Liberty High School holds football games and other sporting events at the Frank Banko Field at the Bethlehem Area School District Stadium. Graduation takes place annually at Stabler Arena.
