Info

Kintore railway station was a railway station in Kintore, Aberdeenshire. It served as a junction between the main line, and an abandoned branch to Alford. It was closed in 1964 as part of the Beeching Cuts.
NESTRANS initially raised the possibility of reopening the station in 2009, as part of its 2010-2021 Rail Action Plan. and it was first discussed in the Scottish Parliament in October that year.
Plans to reopen the station were announced in December 2012 and in February 2014, Aberdeenshire West MSP Dennis Robertson raised the issue in parliament for a second time.
Aberdeenshire Council, Network Rail and Nestrans hope to have it reopened by 2019. This will form part of a wider £170 million project to upgrade the Aberdeen to Inverness Line, which will also see the Aberdeen to Inverurie section have its double track reinstated. Funding for this project is being supplied by Transport Scotland on behalf of the Scottish Government.
