It was first use for the 1991 Trophée Lalique, which was staged as a test event for the Olympics. The venue also hosted selected matches of the 2017 World Men's Handball Championship. The site was constructed on ten internal pillars. Its ice was laid down on 14 cm (5.5 in) foundation, then 7 cm (2.8 in) of insulation, 7 cm (2.8 in) of screed, and finally, 4 cm (1.6 in) of ice.
