Malcolm X Shabazz High School is a four-year comprehensive public high school in Newark in Essex County, New Jersey, United States, as part of the Newark Public Schools. The school was founded as South Side High School in 1914 until it was renamed in 1972 in memory of Malcolm X.As of the 2015-16 school year, the school had an enrollment of 562 students and 53.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 10.6:1. There were 377 students (67.1% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 6 (1.1% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.
