Info

Bob Batty created Bob Batty Music in Ireland. He has learned bassoon and violin at school, switching to sax at college. He has played in many bands - but many didn't last long, and some ran for several years. Styles covered included modern jazz (big band and small group), blues, soul, and R'n'B. At that time he was trading under the name of Bert Batty (and would still be known in Yorkshire). Film buffs have seen him in the dance band in the John Schlesinger feature film named 'Yanks' - the fee paid for his first soprano sax.

In West Yorkshire, he played mainly before moving to Dorset in 1986. he has been developing my knowledge of the whistle and concert flute. When he is not playing sax, you might well find him in his local Tyrrellspass, Gonoud's, where he sit in on the music sessions since moving to Ireland in 1997. From time to time, he gets over to England and seeks out the local folk scene in pubs such as the Eel's Foot, Suffolk, and Eastbridge.
