Every tongue is dissimilar and some are more attached than others. Tongue tie can be so severe it will seem a tongue is stuck to the base of the jaws, or so slight that it’s not visible unless you checked for it or ask a doctor to check. Tongue tie is frequently diagnosed when kids have issues with sucking and breastfeeding. They might make clicking noises and break suction during breastfeeding. If children are experience feeding problem related to tongue tie they might experience late weight gain. Tongue tie issues can make breastfeeding painful and cause nipple tenderness. At Integrity Dental we offer three options to release Tongue Tie problems: Snipping the frenum (sometimes referred to as ‘Frenotomy’) of neonates, surgical revision of the frenum, Revision of the frenum by laser with a local or topical anesthetic. Tongue Tie Release treatment consists of releasing the frenulum under the tongue to allow for better range of motion.
