Texas District 29 of the United States House of Representatives is a Congressional district that serves the eastern portion of the Greater Houston area in the state of Texas. The current Representative from District 29 is Democrat Gene Green.
The Texas State Legislature established the district as a majority-Hispanic or Latino district. Green, a non-Hispanic white, won the first election for the district in 1992. As of 2017, he is still the incumbent in the area. In November 2017, Green announced that he would retire from Congress at the end of his current term, and did not run for re-election in 2018. Sylvia Garcia was elected on November 6th and is congressman-elect.
