Amethod Public Schools (formerly Oakland Charter Academy Inc., doing business as Oakland Charter Academies) is a nonprofit charter school system with headquarters in Oakland, California. The system operates Oakland Charter Academy (OCA) (Oakland's first charter school), Oakland Charter High School (OCHS), Downtown Charter Academy (DCA), Richmond Charter Academy (RCA) Benito Juarez Elementary School and John Henry High School, the latter three based in Richmond. Oakland Academy became the second public school in Oakland, California to win the National Blue Ribbon award. Currently, AMPS is under investigation by the West Contra Costa Unified District for various matters. The charter for John Henry High School is being revoked for failure to properly train staff on reporting child abuse and for failure to abide by the Williams Act audit. Reports indicate that students lack books for every common core subject. In addition, AMPS has been plagued by scandals such as falsifying parent emails, noncompliance with building codes and very high turnover of teachers and administrators. The CEO and his wife have been known to partake in corruption and falsify information on CBEDS, CALPADS and the National School Lunch Program (NSLP).
