Info
Tabor Park Vocational School was a high school established in 1965 by the Scarborough Board of Education to meet the needs of the large baby boom generation in the newly and rapidly developing area of the city. There were several large high schools in the area, which included Midland Avenue C.I and David and Mary Thomson C.I. Another "vocational" oriented school in the area close to David and Mary Thomson C.I. is Bendale Business and Technical Institute. It seems both Tabor Park and Bendale were meant for streamed "vocational" high school students who wanted to start working right after high school, and who lived close to Midland or David and Mary Thomson. During the mid to late 1980s, Tabor Park was closed, due to a drop of the area population. The building was later sold to the Toronto Catholic School Board. The school has a large athletic field found in most regular public high schools, but usually unavailable with purpose built Catholic high Schools.Today, this school building is used under Jean Vanier Catholic Secondary School. However, the catwalk was extended in the mid-1990s.
