Group Senzala formed in Rio de Janeiro in the early 1960's and has since spread all of the world. Capoeira Senzala Hawaii was born in 1998 when "Japa" Leonardo Naito (student of Mestre Flavio Caranguejo) arrived on Oahu, Hawaii, from São Paulo, Brazil.
